Mercer Island Modern

Recently, I undertook my biggest project yet: a complete renovation of a 5,500 square foot house on Mercer Island that turned it from a 90's eyesore to a modern masterpiece. While the home itself has great bones it was in major need of an update. In total the project included the renovation of 7 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, two living rooms, kitchen, playroom and study. My clients wanted something clean, simple yet sophisticated and to have fun with COLOR! To achieve this we played with color, patterns and textures throughout the home. In the kitchen we used the homeowner's favorite color and did a red back painted glass back splash for an added wow factor. In the study we took a once dark and serious room and painted the dark brown built-in bookcase a cheery and bright coral color and paired it with a roman shade made out of a fabulous Jonathan Adler fabric. In the powder bath off the entry we took the opportunity to make a real statement with Cole & Son's Circus wall paper (a bold and colorful geometric print) in an otherwise boring room. Their guests will be excusing themselves to use the restroom just to check out the over-the-top design. The end result is a home that is the perfect retreat for an upbeat, active young family.
